Balanced comfort and convenient location in Chicago’s Central Loop

Guests appreciate the clean, well-maintained rooms and helpful staff, alongside a prime location near major attractions and public transit. Practical aspects like soundproofing, amenities, and affordable pricing are often highlighted, while the hotel's older building and smaller room sizes receive mixed remarks.

Guests often praise

  • Convenient location within walking distance to Millennium Park, the Riverwalk, public transit, and top Chicago attractions.
  • Friendly, attentive, and helpful 24/7 front desk and housekeeping staff, frequently named in reviews.

  • On-site amenities such as a fitness center, English-style pub, and lounge with a coffee station appreciated by guests.

Worth knowing

  • Rooms are generally smaller and some are semi-dated, reflecting the building’s age but kept clean and functional.
  • Elevator wait times can vary; guests on floors 3–7 have access to a second set of faster elevators, but this is not always clearly communicated.

  • No airport shuttle or swimming pool on site, which might be a consideration for some travelers.

Excellent location. It is a semi-dated, clean property within walking distance to the area just south of the Riverwalk. Riverwalk and River North are a 15 minute walk. Safe, quiet area even at night. Friendly front office staff. Excellent value especially if you can find discounted rates. Mattress was a bit stiff though. No microwave nor fridge. Some rooms offer these for an upgrade. Would return in future.

Great hotel. Clean. Props to service 24/7. Front desk is very knowledgeable. Just wish the hotel would communicate to guests (not limited to but especially full nights) that guests on floor 3-7 can (and are encouraged to take) the second set of elevators which are faster because they go to fewer floors. That way, people on 8-10 don’t wait forever. They say they tell guests but 10 out 10 times surveyed the last 2+ months no guest knew about it. So everyone is taking the same two elevators while people on floors 3-7 also have the option of taking a whole set of other elevators next to the ones everyone gravitates to. That should be a win win for those on 3-7 as well as those on 8-10. Despite my many comments, I don’t think they appreciate that. Anyway shout out to Gabriela, Maria and Mauricio in housekeeping who are exceptional. And Daniel, Melana, and Lara who work hard and always try to be helpful. Front desk hopefully knows they make the guest experience great. Kudos to the leadership at the hotel which includes Joanna, Heather, Papa, and Gabby.

I've stayed at other Club Quarters locations across the country, but this was my first time at the Loop location. I was skeptical based on some of the very low reviews, but found it great for a short stay. Club Quarters in my experience isn't luxurious, but always clean, efficient service, comfortable rooms, and affordable, and this location was all of those. It was surprisingly quiet, and I never waited more than a minute for the elevator, despite it being fairly full. The filtered water was greatly appreciated. Nice luggage bench inside the closet, so all belongings could be put away. Despite being a "small queen" room and priced appropriately, the room was still a comfortable size for a 2-night stay. A refrigerator and microwave would make it more feasible for a longer stay, and the carpets / fixtures could use updating. I had no need for them, but the bathroom toiletries are charged to the room if taken at the end of the trip, and there's a small sign indicating this - could easily be missed. TV was a bit dated, unable to connect streaming services but was not a problem for me. Location cannot be beat, and I felt safe walking back alone late after a show at the stadium. Would gladly stay again for a short trip.

I LOVED IT!! I read A LOT of mixed reviews in regards to CL/CQ. I hesitated to book, but the location, price, and consistent positive reviews of staff, were enough for me. I simply could not have been happier. everything , top to bottom, lobbies, rooms, lounges, all of it, super clean. Well maintained. I would go so far as to say luxe touches. The elevator has a marble floor with an inlaid brass logo of hotel. Elegant. There were crystal brilliant light fixtures. Furniture was up to date and well cared for. Carpeting was super clean. I simply cannot fathom why or how anyone has reviewed this hotel in any negative light. I grew up in the hospitality business so my bar is not set low and I was incredibly impressed. There is an enormous lounge off the lobby. I arrived super early and was told about a private lounge and invited to me to unwind and have a coffee before I ventured out for the day. When I entered, it was like an oasis with a barista style multi option machine. Comfortable furniture, Television, and work stations. The room was really, really nice. The bed provided blissful sleep. The bathroom was gleaming. Toiletries were full size Bigelow brand. Fridge, microwave, Nespresso, arm chair, and office chair that was like a recliner! Spending time in the room was a mini vacation of its own after long days. Streaming my favorite shows made it homey! And 100% soundproof. Very surprising. Book this spot!! The people, the place, the location, you will be happy!

As a Chicagoan who recently moved away, I was super impressed when staying here for business a couple nights. Rather confused by negative reviews on here, felt the need to speak up. Convenience is unmatched, you are a block from the blue line (45 minutes to O’Hare), and two blocks from the loop (orange line will get you to Midway in a half hour). Union station is 5 blocks away and will get you to the suburbs or Milwaukee. You can get almost anywhere you want in the city within a half hour with all the train and bus options, no need for a car. Rooms are smaller than the average hotel for sure, but I’ve stayed in smaller in both New York and San Francisco - that’s how it goes in large cities. I had plenty of room for luggage, the queen that I got was pretty comfortable, everything was clean, and there was a super sturdy wooden desk that actually has enough room to work on unlike the last Marriott I stayed at. Fast WiFi, great for teams meetings and Netflix. Nespresso was nice to have, but I liked the free espresso machine that actually grinds the beans in the lounge even better. I loved the water bottles and filtered water on every floor. Tastes great and this is a way better option than most hotels where you have to buy $6 water or fill up a plastic cup from the sink. Every hotel should do this. I liked the fact that you could check in on your own if you want, or the staff would be happy to help you out. Maybe it’s because I’m part of a younger generation that’s completely fine with minimal staff interaction. I ended up extending my stay by a night and I forgot my key once, both times the staff were super friendly. When I booked, this was one of the most affordable options in the loop (it actually cost less than my rent if you divide it by 30 days). I think it’s well worth the cost for what you get, everything I needed was provided and then some. I don’t usually write reviews for hotels, but just felt the Google Maps rating was completely unfair. Will happily be staying here again.

I stayed at Club Quarters Hotel Central Loop for a business trip and had a solid overall experience. The building is clearly older, but the hotel has done a good job keeping things comfortable and functional. My room was on the smaller side, yet efficiently laid out with everything I needed for a short stay—clean bedding, a good desk setup, and reliable Wi-Fi, which is essential when traveling for work. Service was consistently friendly. The front desk staff handled check-in quickly and were helpful with questions about the area. Housekeeping kept things tidy without being intrusive. The location is really the standout feature. Being right in the Central Loop made it easy to walk to meetings, grab food, and get around the city without hassle. Public transit and plenty of dining options are just steps away. Noise levels were reasonable for downtown Chicago. You can tell the building has some age, but it still offers good value compared to many other hotels in the area. If you’re looking for a practical, affordable place to stay in the Loop—especially for business—this is a solid choice. Not luxurious, but dependable, well-priced, and convenient. I’d stay here again for work travel.

I accidentally booked a day later than I planned and was met with a completely understanding staff and they helped take care of me every step of the way. Mike Perez was a breath of fresh air compared to other hotel staff I’ve had in recent years. (Probably ever!) overall the experience was really nice! The rooms are a tad smaller than I anticipated but in the city I didn’t expect a super large area anyways. Plus their breakfast is well worth it!

First of all…read the email about the parking discount. $25 parking is less than half price if you self park. Easy checking. I got there late, Tuesday night in mid November. I was on the eighth floor. My room faced the alley, but it was very quiet. Your room was clean and comfortable. The TV has morning, flow yoga, and you can request a yoga mat from the staff. The English pub on site was good for a late night food and a drink. My room had a hot plate, microwave, refrigerator, and nespresso.
